How 4-Speaker Meeting Works

Central Austin Toastmasters is the only club in Austin with 4 speakers every week, all in 1 hour!

Hi, everyone. I hope that you have a great weekend and try out something new over the break.

From September 10 to October 29, we will have a 4-speaker meeting every week. This will allow you to speak at our club, on average, every 6 weeks.

During this trial period, we will want to find out what works and what doesn't. Please give us feedback so that we can improve our future meetings.

If you wish to speak even more often, you can contact Jay and David, who will help you find clubs that need guest speakers. We can also have extra meetings over coffee or beer—speech-marathons, so to speak. :)

In short, our goal is for you to speak every 6 weeks, so that you have ample time to prepare and learn from others. Tell us if you are meeting your goals.

To make our new format a success (meeting ends at 7:30), I need your help:

  • In general, please follow the times on the Agenda closely.

  • If you are a Speaker or a Backup, tell us the speech project and title. Each project shows how much time we can allow you. You can (1) edit our Agenda, or (2) email your Toastmaster, VPE (Jay), or Webmaster (Isaac).

  • If you are a Speaker or a Backup, please practice before the meeting so that you know if there are contents to delete to finish on time.

  • If you are Grammarian or Timer, prepare a 15-second spiel of your role. Your Toastmaster only has 2 minutes to open the meeting, introduce you, and segue to the speeches.

  • If you are Table Topics Master, write questions that get to the point. You will want to give the Table Topics speakers more time to speak.

I'm really excited that our club, which used to only have 1 or 2 speakers a week, can now present 4 speakers every week. I want to thank you for joining Central Austin Toastmasters, and ask that you continue to help our club improve.

Cheers,
